I was inkering with the APRS gateway MB7USS lately, setting it up in the southwest of Milton Keynes. It was both a technical challenge and a rewarding experience. The project involved configuring a Raspberry Pi with Direwolf as a software TNC, linking it to a Motorola CM140 VHF radio via an AIOC (All In One Cable) for reliable audio and PTT control. The goal was to fill the hole in the area and enhance APRS coverage for local amateur radio operators wishing to tracking their positions or sending short messages. After extensive testing and fine-tuning, MB7USS was successfully installed, providing reliable APRS digipeating and IGate services, benefiting hams across southwest MK and beyond.
